Sheriff’s office and state investigate inmate death at Jasper County Jail

Identity is being withheld until family is notified

Jasper County Sheriff’s Office has not yet identified an inmate who was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead at the Jasper County Jail.

According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, a request for medical care was made around 12:08 a.m. Sept. 2 at the county jail. The sheriff’s office and the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigations are investigating the death. No further information is available at this time.

The identity of the inmate was withheld from the press release, pending notification to the family.
