Legacy Valor Quilters of Newton, a member of the National Quilts of Valor Foundation, presented Quilts of Valor at Newton’s St Luke’s Methodist Church March 8 and June 7, to honor veterans who served our country and protected our freedoms.
Veterans who were honored March 8 were: Angel Avila Jr, Larry Huffaker, Lonnie Huffaker, Hunter Huffaker, Zachariah Huffaker, Clyde Jones, James McMahon Jr, Mike Miranda, George Osborn, Kenneth Paul, Norm Reinier, Gary Richard, Dave Schafer, Dean Shore, Royce Sparks and Johnny Williams.
Veterans honored June 7 were: Tim Allen, Jake Berger, Gayland Blakley, Justin Blakley, Wayne Cook, Howard Corbitt. Herman Cupples, Elizabeth Ann Henderson, James Henderson, Robert Lenz, Jim McMahon, Bill Robson, Nick Smith, Sherman Swank, Dan Thompson, Craig Wade and Regan Wade.
The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation is to cover all service members and veterans who have honorably served our nation, whether in peacetime or times of crisis. It was founded in 2003 by “Blue Star” mother, Catherine Roberts. The quilts are meant to offer healing, peace and comfort.
