Has the Jasper County Concert Association gone country? Well, yes. At least for one night. But it is sure to be a night to remember. The Doo-Wah Riders are promising a night of toe-tapping fun at 7 p.m. Feb. 4 inside the Center for Performance in Newton High School.
As the third show in Jasper County Concert Association’s 2024-2025 season, the Doo-Wah Riders mark a clear shift in style compared to previous performing acts
like Jim Witter’s homage to Billy Joel in “Sing Us A Song…You’re the Piano Man” and USO-style show by Letters From Home.
Known for their high-energy country — with a Cajun twist — the California-based Doo-Wah Riders bring more than 40 years of experience and a youthful energy driven by a deep love for what they do. Tight musicianship and powerful arrangements of classic and original songs make each show worthwhile.
Highlights include “Ghost Riders in the Sky,” “Proud Mary,” “Hot Tamale Baby,” “Devil Went Down to Georgia” and many others.
Tickets for non-association members can be purchased at the door for $25. For ticket and membership information with the Jasper County Concert Association, call 641-521-8735. Upcoming shows include Sail On, a Beach Boys tribute, on April 14, and Jared Freiburg and The Vagabonds on May 14.
Membership in the association is sold for the season of concerts. Three types of memberships are available: adult for $60, student for $15 and family (one or two adults plus children) for $130. This membership allows the member to attend five concerts in Newton, four concerts in Indianola and six concerts in Marshalltown.
To attend Marshalltown concerts it quires a one-time payment of $10 per single membership or $20 per family membership.
