Local interior designer hired for Westwood clubhouse project

Consultant to give recommendations on furniture, décor and more

Renderings by ISG, Inc. show what the interior of the Westwood Golf Course Clubhouse could look like when fully constructed.

An interior designer from Newton has been hired by the city council to propose furnishings, décor, paint choices and other design options for the new clubhouse at Westwood Golf Course. The Newton City Council voted 6-0 on Oct. 7 to enter into a contract for 120 hours of work at a rate of $35 per hour.

Christine Pletcher DeZign is a Newton-based commercial and residential interior design company, who will be working with the city at a reduced rate with no retainer fee and no mark-up on goods. Pletcher has access to high-quality furniture at wholesale prices and will pass those savings on to the city.

Included in the city council packet were virtual tours featuring some of her past work at places like The Emory North Liberty Apartments, the Emory Clubhouse in Altoona and community spaces at Attivo Trail Apartments in Waukee. The city said her services are affordable and fill a gap where staff expertise is lacking.

According to a copy of the agreement, the city may request from Pletcher electrical needs, flooring selections, paint and stain selections, furniture, art and décor recommendations, budget assistance, case goods, trades and final staging of the furniture layout and décor installation.

Council member Randy Ervin said, “Great! Let’s keep moving forward with the clubhouse.”
