Summer Plant Swap

Plant Drop-off: June 10 – 12

Plant Swap: Thursday, June 13, 5 – 6:30 p.m.

Pick up something green at our summer plant swap! Drop off your extra or unwanted plants at the library June 10 - 12 and pick up a swap ticket for each plant you bring in. Donations may include houseplants, flowers, vegetables, perennials, and annuals. Bring your tickets back on June 13 between 5 to 6:30 p.m. to exchange them for new plants to take home! Plants must be healthy, rooted in soil, and include identification.

Iowa State University Insect Zoo

June 10, 10 a.m. – noon

The Iowa State University Insect Zoo will bring insects from around the world for kids to see up close. Open house format, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Borrow a Librarian: Drop in Photo Digitizing

Monday, June 17, 9 – 11 a.m.

Drop-in to learn about our Memory Lab Digitization Equipment. Attendees may bring up to 10 photos per visit and a flash drive to store their scans on. The Newton Public Library Memory Lab is made possible through the generosity of the Jasper Community Foundation.

Dino O’Dell Concert for Kids

June 17, 6 p.m.

Musician, Dino O’Dell performs on the library lawn. Bring a blanket to sit on. Ages 2-10.

Cockatoo Encounter

June 19, 10 a.m.

Logan Jimenez from Cockatoo Encounter will bring some of his cockatoo ambassadors for children to see, and we will learn about these intelligent birds.

Iris Paper Folding Class

June 25, 4 p.m.

Learn the art and technique of iris paper folding with paper artist, Emily Mallory. Attendees will learn about iris folding while making their own greeting card. All materials will be provided. This class is free to attend but registration is required to reserve your spot. Registration opens June 17th. Please call the library at 641-792-4108 to register. Ages 18+
