Doug Garrett, vice president of the Quarry Springs Park and Recreation Board in Colfax, spoke to the Newton Noon Kiwanis Club Sept. 20 about plans for the 480-acre park. The park offers fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, biking, camping, canoeing, cross country skiing and osprey-watching. Quarry Springs, which is cared for by a volunteer board and volunteer workers, plans to add 40 RV campsites next year and a playground in the future. Volunteers are always needed, Garrett said.
