United Way of Jasper County receives national grant

UWJC was named a local recipient of the Legacy of Caring grant program

United Way of Jasper County was named a local recipient of the national Legacy of Caring grant program thanks to a nomination from Newton-based Clemon Maki Insurance.

The grant was made possible by Westfield Insurance Foundation which joined together with Clemon Maki Insurance to present the $6,500 donation to United Way of Jasper County. The grant funds will provide support to health and human services programs to Jasper County citizens.

“Our team at Clemon Maki Insurance is always seeking out opportunities to volunteer and support our community,” Alex Modlin, owner/agent at Clemon Maki Insurance, said. “Darin (Eide), Jeff (Maki) and I are proud of our collaboration with Westfield, which helps our agency make a more powerful impact on the communities where we live and work.”

The funds were presented during United Way’s annual campaign as the organization works to reach its $300,000 goal to support programs including homeless prevention, food assistance, access to medical care, building ramps on houses, children’s literacy and much more.

“We are so grateful for the generous support of Westfield and Clemon Maki Insurance,” Jessica Lowe Vokes, UWJC Executive Director, said. “The Legacy of Caring grant will enable United Way to continue to support these vital programs to stabilize and improve lives.”
