Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-02), a retired U.S. Army Lt. Colonel with 24 years of service, announced her office is now accepting applications from individuals seeking a Congressional nomination to a United States service academy.
“Serving our country is one of the greatest honors that one can achieve, and I look fondly back at my time serving in the United States Army. Attending one of our service academies gives people the opportunity to serve while receiving a free education and gaining lifelong experiences,” Miller-Meeks said. “I encourage any students interested in attending one of our nation’s service academies to apply for a nomination or to contact my Ottumwa office if you have any questions about the nomination process.”
Anyone seeking to attend the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, or the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy must receive a nomination from an authorized source, which includes their Member of Congress. Applicants must also apply directly to each service academy they are interested in attending and meet all criteria and deadlines.
Instructions for opening an application file, and information on the nominations process, can be found on the Representative’s website, at https://millermeeks.house.gov/services/military-academy-nominations. The deadline to complete an application file is Oct. 21.
