Newton’s little bundle of Joy is turning 10.
The famous, Guinness World Record-holder mini-pig will be celebrating her 10th birthday Feb. 12 at the Capitol II Theatre, 116 First St. N., in Newton. Joy will be at the downtown movie theater performing in her custom-designed birthday dress while customers enjoy a free showing of the 1973 film “Charlotte’s Web.”
The adapted tale of E.B. White’s well-known children’s book will be showing at 10 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. in the theater. Doors will open 45 minutes before. Advance tickets can be secured at the theater or Riggs Printing, 117 First Ave. E.
Dawn Bleeker, owner of the Capitol II Theatre and “mother” of Joy, announced on the mini-pig’s Facebook page that new T-shirts and sweatshirts featuring the local movie theater mascot will be available for purchase, along with dolls and refrigerator magnets. Guests will receive free giveaways, too.
At age 7, Joy was featured in the 2020 edition of the Guinness World Records and even received a special spotlight on the organization’s YouTube page. The mini-pig claims the record for most tricks performed by a pig in one minute. In 60 seconds, Joy was able to perform 13 tricks. Some pig!
