Newton police search for 14-year-old runaway

Officers seek information from public regarding whereabouts of Maddie Rodgers

Newton Police Department is seeking the whereabouts of a 14-year-old girl who has been formally listed as a runaway by her family.

Madison Ann Marie Rodgers, who goes by Maddie, is approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighs 100 pounds, has a scar above her right eyebrow and has jawline-length brown hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing black and white checkered pants, a checkered shirt and a purple ski jacket with white stars.

Rodgers, who is a student at Berg Middle School, reportedly ran away around 2:30 a.m. Oct. 16. Newton police said they were contacted by her father around 9:20 a.m. that same day and did not want to list Rodgers as a runaway at that time because he believed she would return home.

Officers were informed Rodgers had tried leaving several times throughout the night and had been stopped each time before she could get out of the residence. Relatives and Newton police officers followed leads and checked locations for Rodgers on Oct. 16 and Oct. 17, but she was not located.

Rodgers’ father officially listed his daughter as a runaway Oct. 17.

If anyone has information about the location of Rodgers, please contact local law enforcement or Newton Police Department at 641-791-0850.
