CITY & SCHOOL ELECTIONS 2021

Jasper County Auditor’s Office announces candidates

Eight candidates are vying for four Newton school board seats in November, according to information gathered by the Jasper County Auditor’s Office. In addition, Newton Mayor Mike Hansen and councilperson Evelyn George are running for reelection uncontested.

Current Newton City Council members Steve Mullan and Dean Stonner decided not to campaign to reclaim their seats. Stonner’s Ward 2 seat is sought after by two candidates while Mullan’s Ward 4 seat has no candidate filed.
