United Way of Jasper County received a $5,000 donation to help provide health and human services programs to Jasper County citizens. The nomination for the grant was made by Clemon-Maki Insurance as part of Westfield’s Legacy of Caring program.
Each year, Westfield independent insurance agencies, like Clemon-Maki Insurance, are invited to nominate a local nonprofit for the Legacy of Caring program. The Westfield Insurance Foundation, an independent private foundation endowed by Westfield, awards the donation as an extension of the fundamental role that insurance plays every day in stabilizing families, businesses and communities in times of uncertainty.
“As our businesses and schools reopen and ‘return to normal,’ Westfield’s Legacy of Caring program reminds us that it may take years to return to the stability and security people and businesses, including nonprofits, enjoyed before the pandemic happened,” Jeff Maki, Clemon-Maki Insurance owner/agent, said.
The 2021 grant program, funded by Westfield Insurance Foundation, is focused on supporting nonprofits that are helping families and businesses stabilize and recover from the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are happy to support United Way of Jasper County and the assistance they provide to so many in our community,” Darin Eide, Clemon-Maki Insurance owner/agent, said. “United Way is a wonderful asset year-round and the organization truly stepped up to help during the pandemic and then through derecho recovery.”
In the last 15 months, nonprofits became increasingly important as the number of people in need increased while funding support simultaneously evaporated.
“Like many non-profits, United Way was hit financially by the pandemic, but they continued to ensure support and serve those who needed them,” Alex Modlin, Clemon-Maki Insurance owner/agent, said. “It is great we are able to lift some of the financial burden for this great non-profit thanks to the Legacy of Caring program.”
Many agents participating in the Legacy of Caring program this year elected to nominate their local Feeding America foodbank, Urban League or United Way because of the critical resources they provide to their communities.
“This generous donation is so greatly appreciated,” Jessica Lowe Vokes, United Way of Jasper County Executive Director, said. “The Legacy of Caring grant of $5,000 will have a direct and positive impact to Jasper County residents who need a hand up as we continue to recover from a difficult 2020.”
The Westfield Insurance Foundation will donate more than $600,000 dollars to neighborhoods across the country. Clemon-Maki Insurance is one of nearly 100 agencies that nominated a nonprofit, including United Way of Jasper County, for the Westfield Legacy of Caring grant program. Westfield is proud to work with its independent agents in distributing more than $3 million since 2015.
“We value our partnerships with our independent insurance agencies,” Ed Largent, Westfield President, CEO, and Westfield Insurance Foundation Chair, said. “2020 was an incredibly tough year and Westfield recognizes that families trying to achieve and maintain stability were faced with multiple barriers to success. Investing in our agents’ communities will help families realize short-term successes with long-lasting outcomes.”
