Sheriff’s office investigating fatal car crash in Jasper County

Authorities say the vehicle of a Newton man was found rolled

A Newton man was found dead at the scene of a single-vehicle car crash early Sunday morning in Jasper County, authorities say.

Jasper County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at about 12:54 a.m. April 11 of a motor vehicle accident in the 2400 block of West Fourth Street South, just south of Newton.

Newton Fire Department and Newton Police Department also responded to the scene. Upon arrival, the sheriff’s office says a single vehicle was located that had rolled.

The driver and only occupant, identified as 36-year-old Lance Richardson, died at the scene.

Jasper County Sheriff John Halferty says the accident is currently under investigation.
