4 things to know from the March 8 Baxter City Council meeting

1. The council approved entering into a General Obligation Corporate Purpose Loan Agreement and Providing for the Levy of Taxes to Pay General Obligation Corporate Purpose Bonds/South West Avenue Phase I Redesign 2020 Reconstruction Project. The motion was approved following a public hearing on the same matter.

2. City council supported proposals brought by police chief John Hicks for the purchase of an additional body camera and new tasers. The purchase would be in a three-year program with Axon Enterprises.

3. Dan Kunkel and city maintenance employee Mike Johnson were tapped to handle any driveway or sidewalk inspections and sign-off on permits for the city while the public works director position is vacant. Kunkel and Johnson both have the necessary training through MSA to handle the duties.

4. Council approved moving back to one meeting per month beginning in May.
