Phase 1a for COVID vaccine for Jasper County Healthcare workers

Jasper County Health Department has partnered with MercyOne Newton, Newton Clinic and Newton Medicap Pharmacy to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine based on availability by priority groups in Jasper County.

MercyOne Newton will be administering the COVID vaccine for their employees in a closed POD (point of dispensing). Long-term care facilities in Jasper County will be receiving their doses directly from the state.

PHASE- 1a: The first phase and current phase is group 1a includes healthcare personnel and long-term care residents. IDPH is requiring that the county only do phase 1a at this time. A second dose of COVID vaccine will be required in 28 days from the first dose.

HEALTHCARE PERSONNEL

Newton Clinic and Newton Medicap Pharmacy will be giving the Moderna, COVID-19 vaccine to eligible healthcare workers, hopefully starting Tuesday, Dec. 22 when they may receive the vaccine. If the vaccine shipment is delayed, notifications will be sent and information will be posted on the JCHC Facebook page.

Healthcare workers should bring the following items:

• Badge or letter from a healthcare employer

• Insurance card

The following location will be administering the vaccine when it becomes available to each priority group:

Newton Clinic: walk-in 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturdays

Medicap: must schedule and complete paperwork online, times 9:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
