Baxter Garden Club

Baxter Federated Garden Club met Dec. 10. Ten members were present to enjoy a Christmas potluck and gathering hosted by Deb Krampe.

Meeting called to order by president Macy Lisk. For roll call members shared their New Years Resolution.

Secretary report was given by secretary Deb Krampe who read the November minutes. There were no additions or corrections, so minutes stood as read. Deb also read the short article that summarizes our year end for the Federated Garden Club online news.

Treasurer report was given by Janet Damman. No income was reported and only one expense was occurred for November.

Correspondence/Announcements — President Macy Lisk passed around a Christmas card received from District President Shirley Wallace.

Old and New Business — A big thank you to all club members for helping with the many projects and events throughout the year.

Christmas yard contest poster completed and is now posted around town for Baxter residence.

Club members encouraged to go to the Jasper County Museum for the Tree-mendous Christmas Experience to see our clubs Christmas tree.

Main Street planters in the business section of town are decorated for the holiday season.

After discussion Peggy Smith made a motion to raise our club dues from $15 to $20 for 2026. Laura Hanawalt seconded, and motion carried. Meetings will be at the Baxter Community building on the second Thursday of each month, (March – December). Meeting start times will be 6:30 p.m. Members were asked to write down ideas they would like to see for next year’s programs and events.

Historian Laura Hanawalt brought the Book of Evidence for members to see. She will be mailing it to the State by the end of December. President Macy Lisk will be completing our club’s year end reports and mailing those in as well.

Election of Officers — Macy shared with the club that she would like to step down as president. There were no members comfortable with replacing Macy without being trained. After much discussion Betty Nikkel made the motion that Macy remain president one more year training Cindy Brunner who would be vice-president then take the president position in 2027. Deb Krampe will remain secretary, Janet Damman will be treasurer, and Laura Hanawalt will continue as our historian. Janet seconded Betty’s motion, and all voted yes.

Officers meeting will be 6:30 p.m. Jan. 7 at Macy’s. Meeting adjourned.
