Colfax Historical Society

The April 21 meeting of the Colfax Historical Society was called to order at 7 p.m. by President Kevin Williams and he thanked everyone for attending. Members present were: BJ Williams, Karen Russell, Aaron Bartholmey, Steve and Cindy Van Dusseldorp, Stanley Daft, Don and Joyce Jessen, Peggy Dvorak, Joe Otto, Tranquillity and Chris Smith. Guests were: Josh and Malachia Williams.

Minutes of the March 17 was read. Treasurer’s report was presented.

Malachia and Josh Williams handed out the Eagle Scout Service Project Proposal to all in attendance. The Scouts do carry the liability insurance. The City Building Permit will cost $150. We signed the paperwork moving the Project as it has been presented.

The Facility Manager, Tranquillity Smith reported everything is going well.

Kevin reported that he has obtained more booklets that can be sold for $5.

The Dave Baker program on coal mines will take place at our facility in the evening on June 24.

Refreshments will be available, and the Museum will be open. There will be more publicity later.

We will accept the LaFemme Women’s Club past records from the Library.

Kevin obtained approval for us to have a table at the Alumni Banquet Commons Area. We will have information on becoming a member of the Colfax Historical Society and interesting items about a former student at Colfax High School many years ago being Joe Laws!

The next meeting will be on Monday, May 19 at 7 p.m. It is open to anyone who would like to attend.

The first Sunday we will be open is May 25 from 2 to 4 p.m. Kevin & BJ volunteered for that day. This summer we will be open every Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. with volunteers available.
