Dorothy Jean Hendee

Dorothy Jean Hendee, age 94 of Newton, passed away September 1, 2022, at Mercy One Hospital in Newton.  Dorothy was a long time Colfax resident who had resided in Newton Village the past twelve years. 

The daughter of Glen and Bertha (Weithers) Shuey, Dorothy was born March 8, 1928, in Collins, Iowa.  She was united in marriage to Robert D. Hendee, November 1945 in Colfax.

After retirement from Allied Insurance, Dorothy was a volunteer for many years at Colfax- Mingo Elementary School.

Surviving family members include a sister, Shirley Clippinger of Colorado Springs, Colorado, brother, Jerry Mellor of Des Moines, sister-in-law, Sheri Shuey of Henderson, Nevada, several nieces and nephews, and good friends, Marvin and Marcia Rorabaugh.

Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents, step father James Mellor, husband, Bob, and brothers, John, Glen, Dick, and Larry Shuey and Jim Mellor.

Graveside services will be held, September 6, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Colfax Cemetery.  There will be no visitation.  Condolences may be left at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com
