Blanche E. Draegert

Blanche E. (Fisher) Draegert, 73, of Baxter, passed away Feb. 9, 2021, at her home under the care of EveryStep Hospice.  A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16 at the funeral home. The family is requesting masks be worn at the visitation and service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to EveryStep Hospice may be left at the funeral home or mailed to EveryStep Hospice, 213 E. Main St., Suite 103, Knoxville, IA 50138.

Blanche was born March 16, 1947, to Lee “Red” and Lois (Smith) Fisher in Marshalltown. Blanche was a 1965 graduate of Marshalltown High School. She worked at several places in Marshalltown including Zeno’s Pizza, Benny’s café, KiowaCorp. and Fisher Governor Controls.

Blanche later moved to Arkansas spending time in Rogers and Pea Ridge, then settling in Bentonville. She worked at Glad, Gordo’s and Benton County as a deputy assessor. She earned a degree in computerized accounting and business education from Northwest Technical Institute in Springdale, Ark. She remained in Arkansas for 21 years until she was united in marriage to Leo E. Draegert on May 17, 2008, and they moved to Baxter, where she lived until her death. Blanche was a member of the Metz Community Church and a wrangler at Bar None Cowboy Church. She loved making quilts, sewing, camping and being with family.

Blanche is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Linda (Larry) Adams and Kathy (David) Hessenius; and a nephew, Daniel Rustland. She is survived by her husband, Leo Draegert; son, Chuck Coffman; daughter, Jennifer (Brent) Byrum; son, Alan (Jessica Hockel) Draegert; daughter, Julie (Rory) Clark; grandchildren, Brendon Coffman, Alex (Jaime) Self, Chelsea (Zach) Skaggs, Kasee (Andrew Moore) Self, Hannah Faucett, Jarren Draegert and Brent Byrum, Jr.; her great-grandchildren, Teagan Skaggs, Berkley Skaggs, Grayson Moore and Hunter Moore; sister, Audrey Snider; and brother, Michael (Sandy) Fisher.
