One driver was transported by air ambulance following an early morning crash Thursday, Nov. 12 in Newton.
According to Newton Fire Chief Jarrod Wellik, fire crews responded to a single-car accident around 7:45 a.m. near the intersection of Iowa Speedway Drive and South Ninth Avenue East. According to the report, the vehicle left the roadway and struck a driveway causing it to flip over. The driver was injured and treated on the scene by the Newton Fire Department paramedics. The driver was then transferred to Mercy 2 Air at the Newton Municipal Airport — Earl Johnson Field and transported to a Des Moines hospital for care. The condition of the patient is unknown.
The accident remains under investigation and the identity of the drivers has not been released.
