One person has died following a single-vehicle accident Wednesday morning near mile marker 175 on Interstate 80.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident occurred at 5:05 a.m. Nov. 18 when a semi truck traveling in the eastbound lane dropped off on the inside shoulder and struck a bridge embankment. This caused the truck to roll onto the driver's side coming to rest on the bridge. The vehicle started on fire and was consumed as a result of the collision. The Iowa Department of Transportation reported the crash blocked traffic in the eastbound lanes near exit 179 in Kellogg.
The accident remains under investigation. The identity of the victim has not been released pending confirmation.
