Nine area players earn all-SICL volleyball honors

Colfax-Mingo's volleyball team secured its first Gold Quad season in the South Iowa Cedar League for the first time since 2016 this fall. And the roster is full of players who can return next season.

Lynnville-Sully had a roster loaded with seniors and finished near the top of the league despite pausing all activities in the middle of the season.

The reward for both teams was that nine combined players earned all-conference recognition.

Earning first-team honors were Colfax-Mingo junior Kyra Lester and Lynnville-Sully senior Korinne Jansen. Second-team selections went to C-M junior Morgan Van Dyke and L-S seniors Krystal Van Dyke and Cayler Noun Harder.

The four honorable mention picks were C-M seniors Kira Warrick and Chelsey Temple and L-S seniors Denali Conover and Cally Gibbs.

Lester led the Tigerhawks and was fourth in the SICL with 244 assists and ranked first on the team and sixth in the conference with 21 aces. She also was second on the team with 11 blocks and 125 digs, which ranked tied for ninth in the SICL.

Lester was 137-of-142 in serves and finished with 25 kills in conference play.

Morgan Van Dyke led the Tigerhawks with 134 kills and 128 digs, which ranked second and eighth in the SICL, respectively. She also had 15 aces and five blocks and was 130-of-142 in serves.

Temple finished with 24 kills, 11 assists, 45 digs, eight blocks and was second on the team with 18 aces. She was 126-of-127 in serves, which ranked as the top percentage in the SICL among players who served at least 30 times.

Warrick was forced to miss time this season and played in only five conference matches. She finished fourth on the team with 67 digs and 12 aces and she also had nine assists. Warrick was 74-of-79 in serves.

Jansen led the Hawks with 115 kills, which ranked fifth in the SICL. Her 161 digs ranked third on the team and fifth in the SICL and she also tallied 11 aces and was 161-of-166 in serves.

Noun Harder's 258 assists ranked first on the team and third in the SICL. Her 197 digs ranked first on the team and led the SICL.

Noun Harder also had 15 aces and 13 kills and ranked second in the SICL in serve percentage, converting on 173 of her 175 attempts.

Krystal Van Dyke led her team and was first in the SICL with 55 blocks. She tied with Conover for second on the team and seventh in the SICL with 93 kills and also tallied 13 assists, 71 digs and 11 aces. She was 102-of-106 in serves.

Conover had the 93 kills and ranked second on the team with 165 digs and 12 aces. The 165 digs ranked third in the SICL. Conover also had seven assists and was 110-of-121 in serves.

Gibbs ranked second on the team and fifth in the SICL with 20 blocks. She also tallied 44 kills, 56 digs and nine aces. She was 115-of-125 in serves.
