Each election cycle, we are told “this election is the most important election.” While each election is important, certain events or circumstances occur between cycles that determine the “importance” of an election more than the previous election. The Nov. 3 election is more than important, it is critical due to events over the past four years that are too numerous to list in one letter. Example: More than 200,000 dead from COVID-19.
The ballot Nov. 3 holds more than names of candidates. Our democracy is also on the ballot. Our right to affordable health care, cost of prescription drugs, Social Security, Medicare and our environment are all on the ballot. If we fail to elect candidates who will protect these rights, they are all in jeopardy of massive cuts or eliminated altogether. Women’s rights, workers’ rights are all on the ballot. If you believe this is an exaggeration, then I am sorry, you have not been paying attention.
To protect what we have taken for granted over the years, I ask you to join me Nov. 3 to elect:
Joe Biden — President
Theresa Greenfield — U.S. Senate
Rita Hart — U.S. House 2nd District
Wes Breckenridge — Iowa House District 29
Michelle Smith — Jasper County Supervisor
And all Democrats up and down the ballot.
