Lynnville-Sully's volleyball team suffered a five-set loss to HLV during a make-up match on Saturday and then split a pair of matches at the South Iowa Cedar League pool-play tournament on Monday night.
The Hawks rallied from two sets down against the Warriors but fell in the final set to close out the SICL conference season.
In the pool play matches on Monday, L-S opened with a four-set win over English Valleys and then lost a four-set battle with Montezuma.
The Bravettes defeated the Hawks 25-16, 16-25, 25-20, 25-20 but stastics were not available at press time.
The win over English Valleys pushed the Hawks into the SICL Silver Quad, which takes place Thursday in Sigourney.
Montezuma (10-5) and HLV (10-8) will both play in the Gold Quad.
HLV 3, Lynnville-Sully 2
SULLY — These two teams moved their originally scheduled match to a Saturday and the Warriors came out on top 25-22, 25-18, 12-25, 20-25, 15-8 on the road.
L-S seniors Cayler Noun Harder and Korinne Jansen both had double-doubles in the loss.
Noun Harder finished with 31 assists, 23 digs and two aces and Jansen tallied 15 kills, 10 digs and three blocks.
Senior Denali Conover had seven kills and 15 digs, senior Krystal Van Dyke collected seven kills, seven blocks, six digs and four aces and senior Cally Gibbs added eight kills, four blocks, six digs and three aces.
Senior Jaden Brand chipped in three assists and seven digs and junior Aliya James had eight digs.
The Hawks (9-7 overall, 3-4 in the conference) were 86-of-92 in serves. Van Dyke was 20-of-20, Noun Harder served 18-of-18 and Jansen hit on 17-of-18.
Lynnville-Sully 3, English Valleys 1
MONTEZUMA — Before the loss to Montezuma, Lynnville-Sully secured a spot in the Silver Quad following a four-set win over English Valleys.
The Hawks got double-doubles from Noun Harder, Jansen and Conover during the 22-25, 25-15, 25-21, 25-20 victory.
Noun Harder led the way with 26 assists, 21 digs, three aces and two kills, Jansen added 13 kills, 11 digs and two aces and Conover chipped in 10 kills, 19 digs and three aces.
Van Dyke finished with 11 kills, three blocks and four digs and Brand had eight assists, nine digs and three aces.
James finished with 15 digs, Gibbs put down five kills and added four digs and junior Lily Zylstra had three kills, nine digs and two aces.
The Hawks were 83-of-93 in serves with 14 aces. Noun Harder served 20-of-20, Van Dyke was 12-of-12 and Conover hit on 13-of-14.
