Letters to the Editor

Breckenridge works for his constituents

My name is Randy Wadle and I have been a resident of Jasper County for most of my life.
I am submitting this letter to the editor in support of Wes Breckenridge’s incumbent candidacy for Iowa House District 29.

The first and most important thing that I will say about Wes is that he is tireless in his support for his constituents. His phone number is readily available, and he will take a call from anyone in the interest of helping them or listening to them. Wes engages with those who support him and those who don’t. He also takes calls from those outside of his district. He will engage anyone in regards to their needs or views on any issue.

I know this because my wife and I socialize with Wes and his wife Kris. I’ve seen Wes take calls from anyone at almost any time and I know that he seeks to follow-up on those calls in a meaningful way.

Wes has an outstanding record of public service including serving in the Iowa House for the last four years and a long career in law enforcement, much of it in Newton.

He is consistently respectful of everyone. It doesn’t matter if you agree with him, support him, or had to deal with him as a police officer; Wes will treat you with respect and listen to what you have to say.

Wes is a moderate Democrat. He strongly supports labor and renewable energy and has received endorsements from Teamsters Local 238 (the state’s strongest police and worker’s union) and the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association. It is not surprising based on his law enforcement background, that he is also a strong supporter of law enforcement and second amendment rights. Wes has worked hard to grow employment in Jasper County.

The current election has been divisive on many fronts. I think that it says a great deal about Wes that he has not said anything negative about his opponent, preferring to run on the strength of his integrity within the community and his record.

The bottom line for me is that Wes is a good person and a good leader. He doesn’t work for any special interests or primarily for his party. He works for you, his constituents.

I strongly support and endorse Wes’ candidacy for Iowa House District 29 and think you should too!

Randy Wadle
