Bolts volleyball sweeps Meskwaki Settlement

BAXTER — Baxter’s volleyball team served up 16 aces and won its fourth straight match when it swept Meskwaki Settlement School on Sept. 29 during an Iowa Star Conference South Division contest.

Eight of the 16 aces came from senior Sophie Meyer and she added seven kills and seven digs during a 25-13, 25-16, 25-18 home win.

The Bolts (6-5 overall, 3-0 in the conference) also got 17 assists and seven digs from junior Allison Colyn.

Junior Maggie Schabilion finished with four kills, four digs and three aces, sophomore Mandee Selover added three kills and four digs and senior Hallee Rainsbarger chipped in three kills and three digs.

Senior Maddie Pierce collected seven digs, freshman Julie Damman had two kills and two assists, sophomore Lilyan Headlee tallied three digs and sophomore Kelcie Shedd served up a pair of aces.

The Bolts were 62-of-74 in serves with Damman leading the way at 7-of-7. Schabilion was 11-of-13 and Shedd served 10-of-12.

Meskwaki fell to 0-15 on the season and 0-4 in conference play.

The Bolts hosted GMG for Senior Night on Oct. 6. They play North Tama at 7 p.m. on Oct. 8 in Traer.
