PELLA — Newton's volleyball team never got its footing against Class 4A No. 12 Pella on Tuesday night.

The Lady Dutch handed the Cardinals a fourth straight loss during a 25-16, 25-18, 25-17 home win in Little Hawkeye Conference action.

"We lacked confidence and beat ourselves again," Newton coach Kim Florke said. "We need to play as a team and cut down our errors."

Newton fell to 6-6 overall and 1-2 in the conference. Pella improved to 8-2 and 3-0 in the LHC.

Senior Kate Callaghan led the Cardinals with 17 assists, 11 digs and four kills, while senior Tess Brunsmann had a team-best six kills and two assists.

Senior Kynnedei Terpstra put down five kills and had four digs, freshman Kadance Ahn chipped in three kills and three digs and senior Meg Callaghan added two kills, two blocks and two aces. Senior Katie McConnell finished with four digs.
