Meyer leads Baxter volleyball to win over Royals

COLO — Senior Sophie Meyer had a double-double, senior Hallee Rainsbarger filled up the stat sheet and Baxter's volleyball team rallied past Colo-NESCO on Tuesday during Iowa Star Conference South Division play.

Meyer's 18 kills and 10 digs helped the Bolts down the Royals 18-25, 25-21, 19-25, 25-19, 15-11.

Rainsbarger tallied seven kills, seven digs, three aces and three blocks and junior Allison Colyn dished out 40 assists, had three digs and served up six aces.

The Bolts (4-5 overall, 1-0 in conference play) have won three out of their last four matches. Colo-NESCO (1-10, 0-1) has dropped four in a row.

Junior Maggie Schabilion finished with seven kills and seven digs for Baxter, while sophomore Mandee Selover tallied five kills and six digs.

Senior Maddie Pierce had 14 digs, sophomore Lilyan Headlee tallied four digs and freshman Julie Damman added a pair of digs and two kills.

The Bolts were 86-of-92 in serves with Rainsbarger's 21-of-21 leading the way. Damman was 15-of-15, Schabilion was 14-of-14, Selover served 8-of-8 and Meyer was 14-of-16.

The Bolts host Collins-Maxwell at 7 p.m. on Thursday in Baxter.
