C-M volleyball rallies past BGM

BROOKLYN — Juniors Morgan Van Dyke and Kyra Lester both had double-doubles and Colfax-Mingo's volleyball team rallied past BGM on Monday during a South Iowa Cedar League road match.

The Tigerhawks lost the first set but took the next three, winning the match 18-25, 25-16, 25-12, 25-18.

Lester tallied 33 aces, 10 digs, two kills and four aces and Van Dyke collected 22 kills, 13 digs, three blocks and two aces.

Sophomore Caylee Cunningham added 10 kills, eight digs and two aces, junior Kira Warrick chipped 18 digs, three assists and three aces and senior Chelsey Temple had five kills and six digs.

Junior Melany Vry added four kills and two digs and junior McKayla Smith collected four blocks.

Colfax-Mingo (3-4 overall, 1-0 in the conference) was 87-of-92 in serves. Lester served 16-of-16, Temple was 13-of-13, Vry was 8-of-8 and Van Dyke served 20-of-21.

BGM fell to 1-6 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

The Tigerhawks face North Mahaska at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in New Sharon.
