Suspect wanted in felony assault on peace officer incident

The Newton Police Department is searching for information about a woman who assaulted an officer responding to a burglary report.

Jessica Robinson, 35, of Newton, is wanted in connection to a Sept. 12 incident in the 1800 block of West Fourth Street, according to a press release issued Monday. She is described as a white female, approximately 5 feet 6 inches, 125 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

According to the report, officers were called at 1:52 a.m. about a burglary in progress. Officers located a vehicle involved with the incident and attempted to stop it as it exited to property. The vehicle in question struck the NPD squad car as the officer was exiting. The officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries and received medical treatment. A short pursuit ensued but was ended for safety reasons.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Robinson who is still at large and is wanted by law enforcement.

She is being charged with assault on persons in certain occupations using dangerous weapon and eluding while participating in a felony, both Class D felonies. Additionally, she is charged with unsafe entry onto a roadway, failure to obey stop sign and yield right of way, two counts of violation of a no-contact order and leaving the scene of an accident-injury.
