Trump’s new pandemic advisor, Scott Atlas, is pushing a “Herd Immunity” policy for COVID-19. The New York Times on Sept. 2, reported that Mr. Trump has embraced Dr. Atlas, as has Mark Meadows, the White House chief of staff. This “Herd Immunity” policy was tried in Sweden with disastrous results. And where are these new COVID-19 patients going to be treated? Wouldn’t this overwhelm our hospitals again with severe cases just as in the first phase of the COVID-19 pandemic? Perhaps they just want us to stay home and die.
Trump’s strategy on the Coronovirus has been back and forth for the last six months and there never seemed to be a consistent strategy. First, it was all a “hoax and fake news;” it will be over by Easter, no need for masks, is against increased testing and don’t forget drinking the Clorox. Someone else always to blame: blame China, the Democrats; or blame fate — (“it is what it is”). Trump has stated he takes no responsibility.
We can see for ourselves the constant death rate increase being reported and the body bags stacked up. And the death rate now is projected at 1,000 deaths per day.
And now Trump wants to make us believe that we are unsafe in our communities from legitimate protestors using their guaranteed rights under the Constitution to protest perceived wrongs. When we know the real threat to our lives is an incompetent and dangerous health policy or no policy for COVID-19.
Trump’s niece, a clinical psychologist, describes her uncle has deeply insecure, unscrupulous, cheating as a way of life and citing a lifelong habit of lying. I don’t need a clinical psychologist to tell me that there is something seriously wrong with a man who makes fun of handicapped people, calls people names as though he is in high school rather than president of the United States. Calls our dead war heroes “losers and suckers” for serving their country. Who is going to defend our country if our young men and women are led to believe by this president that they are “losers” and “suckers” for putting their lives on the line for their country? It won’t be Trump with his bone spurs.
It is time for a change!
