Baxter volleyball opens season with loss to E. Marshall

LE GRAND — Baxter’s volleyball team opened the 2020 season with a four-set loss to East Marshall on Aug. 25.

The Bolts fell behind early and never recovered and struggled behind the service line during a 25-14, 25-21, 18-25, 25-20 loss to the Mustangs.

Junior Allison Colyn had 17 assists, eight kills, six digs and four aces in her first varsity start at setter.

Senior Sophie Meyer tallied eight kills, nine digs, three assists and two aces, senior Hallee Rainsbarger chipped in five kills, nine digs and two blocks and junior Maggie Schabilion finished with three kills, three assists, six digs and two aces.

Senior Maddie Pierce had a team-best 21 digs and sophomore Mandee Selover contributed three kills, three blocks, three digs and two aces.

Baxter (1-3) made only 51-of-78 serves in the loss. It was the season opener for both teams.
