Newton Police Department
• Randy G. Dickerson, 34, of Newton, was charged with third-degree criminal mischief at 11 p.m. Aug. 19. According the Newton Police Department, officers were called at 7:18 p.m. Aug. 18 in reference to criminal mischief involving a vehicle. The victim told officer the driver’s front door her vehicle had been kicked, causing noticeable damage to the door while it was parked in the 400 block of East Fifth Street North sometime between the hours of 11 p.m. Aug. 17 and 1 p.m. Aug. 18. Officers observed a large dent in the driver’s front door, which was consistent with being kicked. The victim believed Dickerson was responsible for the damage, which repairs had been assessed nearly $1,450. Officers were dispatched again at 7:03 p.m. Aug. 19 in reference to further damage to the victim’s vehicle. The victim stated she was outside and checked the vehicle. She found further damage and a shoe print to the driver’s door. Police observed the shoe print, photographed it and did a shoe print lift. Officers made contact with Dickerson and requested to see his shoes. Officers compared the shoes to the photograph and confirmed they matched the prints. Dickerson admitted to kicking the door twice causing damage. The victim has requested a no contact order out of fear of Dickerson. He was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Mark W. Adkins, 57, of Newton, was arrested and charged with fourth-degree criminal mischeif at 9:20 p.m. Aug. 26 in the 400 block of Iowa Speedway Drive. According the to Newton Police Department, officers were dispatched at 10:42 a.m. March 31 in the 1600 North 19th Avenue East to A and Z Mini Storage in reference to damages to a storage unit. Adkins had been delinquent on his rent and the owner had locked him out March 29 until his rent was paid up. Sometime after that, Adkins went to the storage unit and removed screws to a metal panel on the side of the unit door. He gained access to the unit by removing the locks and latch. He did some damages to metal panel to trying to gain entry. The estimated cost to replace and repair is at $400. Adkins was arrested on the active warrant and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Nathan M. Beintema, 37, of Newton, was charged with fifth-degree criminal mischief at 8:47 p.m. Aug. 12 in the 1100 block of North Fourth Avenue West. According to the Newton Police Department, Beintema allegedly threw a piece of wood through the front window of a residence. He was on scene with law enforcement arrive and admitted to breaking the window. The victim wished to pursue charges. Damages were estimated at $300 or less. He was cited and released to appear in court.
• Julian A. Garcia-Gonzalez, 51, of Newton, was charged with driving while barred and cited for obedience to official traffic-control devices.at 10:47 p.m. Aug. 12 in the 500 block of First Street South. According the to Newton Police Department, officers observed a vehicle run a stop sign at the intersection of First Street South and South Fifth Avenue East. A traffic stop was conducted, and Garcia-Gonzalez was identified as the driver. He admitted he did not have a driver’s license and knew he was barred. He was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Anna M. Ramos, 49, of Newton, was charged with public intoxication at 9:17 p.m. Aug.14 in the 1300 block go West 16th Street South. According to the Newton Police Department, officers were dispatched to Krupp apartment complex for a fight between a male and female. Upon arrival, the NPD made contact with Ramos who appeared to be intoxicated. She had a strong odor of alcohol coming for her person, watery eyes and slurred speech. She had trouble keeping her balance and walking. Officers observed a bottle of Hawkeye vodka and the scene. Ramos admitted to drinking but refused all standardized field sobriety tests and preliminary breath test. She also refused her right to a chemical test. She was arrested and taken to jail.
• Elizabeth F. Sanders, 33, of Masonville, was charged with first offense operating under the influence at 12:35 a.m. Aug. 21 in the 100 block of East Third Street South. According to the Newton Police Department, officers were on active patrol in the 400 block of East Third Street South when they noticed a gray Impala with no plate information, officers did not notice a paper plate in the window of the vehicle. Officers activated emergency lights on the car and initiated a traffic stop. They made contact with the driver, identified as Sanders. While speaking with her, officers noticed an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from her person, slurred speech and watery eyes. Sanders submitted to a field sobriety test, failing all three of them. She took a preliminary breath test which indicated her blood alcohol content above .08. Sanders later submitted to a data master teaser which indicated a BAC of .119. She admitted to drinking a few beers and driving the vehicle. Sanders was arrested and taken to jail.
• Austin B. James, 20, of Newton, was charged with driving while barred at 11:48 p.m. Aug. 21 in the 800 block of West Third Street South. According to the Newton Police Department, officers were on active patrol near the 500 block of South 15th Avenue West when they ran the plate of a vehicle and the registered owner of the vehicle came back at James. He had a barred driving status. Officers made contact with driver and asked for identification, which James provided. The NPD ran his information through the system and dispatchers advised he was barred and he admitted to his driving status. James was arrested and taken to jail.
• Gamaliel A. Emiliano, 33, of Newton, was charged with second offense operating under the influence at 11:47 p.m. Aug. 22 in the 400 block of East Seventh Street North. According to the Newton Police Department, officers were on active patrol near the 300 block of East Seventh Street North traveling southbound when they observed a vehicle with a non-functioning license plate light. Officers conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Emiliano. Officers noticed an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle. He submitted to field sobriety tests, failing all three. He refused a preliminary breath test and the data master. Emiliano was arrested and taken to jail.
• Audrey E. Bailey, 38, of Newton, was charged with third-degree harassment as result of an incident at 10:08 a.m. Aug. 18 in the 800 block of East 17th Street North. According to the Newton Police Department, officers received a case about harassment Aug. 20 from the victim who said several derogatory and threatening posts were made Bailey’s Facebook account. The NPD were able to see the posts which included pictures of the victim and her family. Malicious states were attached to each post, two made threatening remarks against the victim. One discussed a fight between the two and another stated the victim’s friends should come and bring the issue to Bailey. She was cited and released to appear in court and a no contact order was requested by the victim.
• Dorray D. Cooper, 57, of Waterloo, arrested by Black Hawk County on a Jasper County warrant for failure to appear on a simple assault charge. He was picked up in Black Hawk County at 4:08 p.m. Aug. 15 and brought to the Jasper County Jail.
• Julie L. Hurley-Richardson, 59, of Newton, arrested at 9:38 p.m. Aug. 27 in the 1800 block of South Fourth Avenue East on a Greene County warrant for failure to appear for fifth-degree theft. She was taken to jail.
• Dustin T. Gervers, 19, of Newton, arrested at 11:21 p.m. Aug. 26 at Meadowbrook Apartments on a Jasper County warrant for failure to appear on a driving while license suspended charge. He was taken to jail.
