Betty C. (McDaniel) White, 95, of Newton, died Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at Nelson Manor. A graveside service will begin at 2 p.m. Monday, June 29 at Newton Union Cemetery. Memorials to the Jasper County Historical Museum may be left at the graveside service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
Betty, the daughter of Edward and Myrtle (Parker) McDaniel, was born Aug. 13, 1924, in Newton. She grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1942. On April 11, 1948, Betty was united in marriage with Paul V. White in Newton. She worked in the office for both the Parsons Company and later for the Newton Daily News, where she would retire. Betty loved taking care of her yard.
Betty is survived by her son, David (Karen) White of Newton; granddaughters, Michelle (Rod) Jenkins of Newton and Amanda White (Nathan Scott) of Grand Island, Neb.; great-grandchildren, Malachi and Isaiah Jenkins; her sister-in-law, Jane McDaniel of Newton; and her many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; two brothers, Pete and Dale McDaniel; and a sister, Helen Long.
