Newton Police Department
• Darlene Van Balen, 44, of Newton was charged with third degree harassment at 12:49 p.m. Feb. 16 in the 300 block of First Street South. According to the Newton Police Department officers were dispatched for harassment. When officers arrived the spoke with the victim who said she let Van Balen use her phone for Internet purposes. The victim said the phone had the wish.com app on it with no password on the app. A few days later the victim received shipments from wish.com. All of the items were ordered under the victim’s wish.com and the contents of the shipments were intimate clothes and toys to which the victim did not authorize or consent to. One other item was sent to Van Balen’s address. The total amount spent on wish.com was $87. Van Balen was cited and released.
