Newton Police Department

• Minnie B. Donner, 43, of Newton, was charged with failure to provide proof of financial liability and driving while license suspended at 12:18 a.m. Feb. 11 in the 100 block of Highway 14 South. According to the Newton Police Department, officers observed a vehicle with a non functioning driver side headlight. Newton police performed a traffic stop in the 100 block of Highway 14 South and the driver, identified as Donner, told officers her Nebraska driver’s license was suspended. Donner was also unable to provide proof of financial liability. She was issued a warning for the non functioning headlight as well. Donner was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Daniel J. Jensen, 57, of Newton, was charged with assault causing serious injury from an incident that occurred at 4:11 p.m. Dec. 24 in the 900 block of North Sixth Avenue East. According to the Newton Police Department, officers responded to a call in reference to an assault. Newton police arrived and spoke with the victim who said Jensen began yelling at her while she was visiting a friend. Officers said Jensen was still upset over an incident that happened prior and when the victim went to her car Jensen allegedly walked up to her and hit her with his fist in the left eye while she was sitting in her car. Officers said the victim had a swelled eye and bruising. A warrant was issued for Jensen and he was arrested on the warrant for the charge at 6:01p.m. Feb. 11 in the 300 block of East Seventh Street North after being pulled over for not wearing a seat belt and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Mark A. Agan, 46, of Newton, was arrested at 8:34 p.m. Feb. 10 in the 100 block of Iowa Speedway Drive on an Iowa County warrant for failure to appear and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
