BAXTER — Cole Damman and Carter Nelsen both had double-doubles, the Bolts shot 58 percent from the floor and Baxter’s boys’ basketball team hammered Valley Lutheran 92-29 during Iowa Star Conference South Division play on Jan 28.
Damman finished with 27 points, 10 assists and five rebounds and Nelsen added 25 points, 12 rebounds and five steals.
Andrew Klemme scored a career-high 13 points for the Bolts. Baxter (11-5, 7-2) led Valley Lutheran (0-10, 0-7) 52-16 at halftime.
Cody Damman chipped in six points, four rebounds and three assists, Rory Heer added four points and three rebounds and Trice Clapper collected four points and three rebounds. Kael Johnston scored six points, Shane Matthews scored five points and Cael Shepley had three assists and three steals.
The Bolts host Colo-NESCO at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 7 and make up their home game with Collins-Maxwell at 7:30 on Feb. 8 in Baxter.
Meskwaki Settlement 68, Baxter 57
MESKWAKI SETTLEMENT — A quick start wasn’t enough for Baxter on Jan. 27. The Bolts led by nine after the first quarter but was outscored by five in the second and 13 in the third during a 68-57 loss in Iowa Star Conference South Division play.
Nelsen finished with 18 points, six rebounds and two blocks and Cody Damman added a career-high 15 points and five boards to lead the Bolts.
Heer scored 11 points, grabbed three rebounds and had three steals. Johnston chipped in five points and four assists.
Cole Damman had eight points and four assists.

Baxter 40
GILBERTVILLE — Baxter trailed by six at halftime but had a rough third quarter in a 61-40 loss to Don Bosco on Jan. 31.
Nelsen had 13 points and four rebounds and Cole Damman added 10 points, three rebounds and three assists and Heer grabbed five boards. Cody Damman tallied six points and four rebounds.
