Jasper Community Foundation grant applications available

The Jasper Community Foundation will soon be accepting grant applications for 2020.

The Jasper Community Foundation’s 2020 Grant Making Cycle is quickly approaching. Grant applications will be available beginning Feb. 15 through April 30 via the Foundation’s website jaspercommunityfoundation.org. Grant applications to be considered for funding this year must be received by April 30. All 501(c)3 organizations, 170(c)(1) units of government, and other potentially qualifying charitable organizations operating in or for the benefit of Jasper County should go to the Jasper Community Foundation website for guidelines, applications and additional information. This will be the only grant cycle of 2020.

This grant program is made possible through a contribution to the Foundation by the Iowa General Assembly. In 2004, the Iowa legislature passed bills to encourage foundation building and community-based philanthropy. Among these measures was H.F. 2032 (County Endowment Fund Program) which provided that non-gambling counties, initiating a county-wide community foundation, would be eligible to receive a percentage of the commercial casinos’ gaming tax revenues annually. In 2019, the Jasper Community Foundation disbursed nearly $100,000 to 25 different non-profit organizations throughout the county. These funds were awarded to charitable organizations for educational, civic and public purposes in Jasper County. A full listing of grantees can be found on the Foundation’s website.

“I encourage qualifying organizations to consider submitting a grant application,” Dan Skokan, president of Jasper Community Foundation commented. “The more diverse group of applicants we receive, the better chance there is that these funds will reach more programs in Jasper County, to benefit a greater number of residents. These grant funds provide an excellent opportunity to address important needs in our communities and to improve the overall quality of life for our residents.”

All inquiries pertaining to the grant application process should be directed to the “Contact Us” link located on the homepage of the Jasper Community Foundation website.
