NCMP boys place third in LHC Invitational

INDIANOLA — NCMP’s Jaden Dydell lost for the first time in the 100-yard breaststroke this season. It was by a fraction of a second.

Indianola’s Nathan Pollard out-touched Dydell 1:02.62 to 1:02.85 in the race at Thursday’s Little Hawkeye Conference Invitational. Indianola, the host team, won all 11 events for the team championship with 481.5 points.

Grinnell took second with 297 points, NCMP was third with 269 and Oskaloosa was fourth at 162.5. Boys swimming is one team short of being a LHC sanctioned sport.

Dydell and Henry Jensen led the NCMP Cardinal Boys Swim team with two second-place finishes apiece. Jacob Nedder and the 200 medley foursome of Nedder, Dydell, Jackson Mace-Maynard and Eli Eekhoff collected third places.

Dydell got edged out in the 50 freestyle by Indianola’s Abram Wadle, 23.64 to 23.84 seconds.

Jensen was second in the 200 individual medley in 2:12.68. He placed second in the 500 freestyle in 5:23.23.

Nedder finished third in the 100 backstroke in 1:00.96, just a fraction of a second out of second. The medley relay team posted a time of 1:49.08 for third place.

The Cardinals have a week of practice before competing in the North Central Iowa Swim Conference meet on Feb. 1. The NCIC meet starts at noon at Coe College in Cedar Rapids.
