Neighbors Helping Neighbors hosts a free laundry night the second and fourth Mondays of each month. They provide laundry supplies, quarters, clean trash bags and food.
Providing volunteers twice a month for four hours is a large commitment. For this reason the group is asking the following guidelines be honored:
• Washing will begin at 4 p.m. and no sooner. The last loads go in at 8 p.m.
• Clothing, bedding and towels should not be placed in washers until 4 p.m.
• Someone from your family or group should stay on site the entire time.
• Wash should be removed from the washer and dryer as soon as they are done.
• Everyone should be on their best behavior, no bad language, running or fighting.
• To even out the flow of washing, volunteers would encourage people with last names starting with A-M be present from 4 to 6 p.m., and those with last names starting with N-Z do their laundry from 6 to 8 p.m.
Upcoming dates for Laundry Nights are Jan. 27, Feb. 10 and 24, and March 9 and 23 at the Newton Laundromat (behind Domino’s Pizza), 107 E. 17th St. N.
Cab rides are available through Hometown Cab and Dynasty Cab.
