MONROE — Colby Tool went undefeated in his season debut and four other Mustangs were 2-0 during Prairie City-Monroe’s wrestling team’s home triangular on Thursday night.
The Mustangs picked up their first dual win of the season, knocking off Saydel 46-27. PCM also lost to Woodward-Granger 47-33.
It was Tool’s first action of the season after being sidelined with a leg injury. Tool won his first match 14-3 and then picked up a 5-2 win.
Payton Drake was 2-0 with two pins and Landon Fenton (23-4), William Vanderpool and Donovan Nickelson were all 2-0 with one win by fall and one win by forfeit.
Against Saydel, the Mustangs were 3-4 in contested matches. Nickelson and Drake (25-4) each won by fall and Tool won by major decision, while Fenton, Vanderpool, Jace Smith, Tristan Giles and Alex Courtney won by forfeit.
In the loss to Woodward-Granger, Fenton, Drake, Vanderpool and Cooper Sloan all won by fall, Nickelson won by forfeit and Tool won by decision.
The Mustangs are scheduled to host their annual home tournament at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday in Monroe.
