Two dead, one injured in Colfax crash

Names of victims released

COLFAX — Two people were killed and one was injured in a motor vehicle accident Friday morning near the 9300 block of Highway F48 West in Jasper County.

At approximately 6:59 a.m., the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a car crash with injuries along the Colfax roadway. Law enforcement and emergency services personnel from Colfax and Newton responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, authorities determined a vehicle had left the roadway, entered the south ditch and overturned, the sheriff’s office said in a press release Friday.

One occupant of the vehicle, Kylie Eilander, 15, of Garwin, was able to leave the scene and go to a nearby residence to request help. Authorities said she was transported to a Des Moines area hospital by a Colfax ambulance. Her current condition is unknown.

Two other occupants, 23-year-old Dallis Harrison, of Newton, and 16-year-old Isaiah Eilander, of Garwin, were ejected from the vehicle during the time of the accident and were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office requested the help of the Iowa State Patrol for further assistance and said the accident is still currently under investigation.
