Planning is underway for the 2019 Baxter Jolly Holiday Night event. From 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 7 everyone is invited to help kick off the holiday season with a Christmas parade, tree lighting ceremony and much more.
“As people come through the door they will be greeted with festive décor, Christmas music provided by our musically talented youth, dinner put on by the Baxter Junior Class, The Gift Shop, where kids can shop for their parents for $1 per item, vendors for holiday shopping, a craft station for the kids and, of course, Santa,” organizer Lindsay Bethards said.
The event will take place at the school, 202 E. State St., but don’t mind all of the construction dust, it will be transformed into holiday spirit for the Jolly Holiday Night. Final details are still being determined including the vendor list which grows daily but Bethards said they will have a great mix of direct sales companies in addition to crafters for shoppers to choose from.
An event favorite, The Gift Shop is back again to give kids a chance to pick out presents for the ones they care about at a discounted price. For only $1 each, items will be flying off the tables to be wrapped and placed under the tree.
The event is a joint venture between the Baxter Parent Teacher Organization and the Baxter Christmas Committee to bring holiday cheer to the quaint central Iowa town. With new families and community members joining the city regularly as it grows and expands, it will give them a chance to see what Baxter is all about and have a good time.
“Jolly Holiday Night is a Baxter tradition — a good portion of the community joins us for it and we try to add as much as our volunteer base allows us each year,” Bethards said.
