Department

• Hank D. Murphy, 20, of Ottumwa, was cited for trespassing at 2:38 p.m. Oct. 31 in the 2000 block of West 18th Street South. He was released to appear in court..

• Jeffrey L. White, 52, of Newton, was charged with domestic abuse at 3:52 p.m. Nov. 2 in the 800 block of East 12th Street South. According to the Newton Police Department, officers were dispatched on a report of an assault. Newton officers arrived and made contact with White and the victim. Two members from the mobile crisis center were also on scene. Officers were told White allegedly bit the victim on the hand causing it to bleed and also allegedly punched the victim in her face and chest. The victim was examined by Newton paramedics but ultimately refused treatment for her injuries. Newton police looked at her right hand and did see blood on it and the victim acknowledged White had bit her and punched her but did not want anything done. White was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Scot A. Stewart, 42, of Newton, arrested at 5:27 p.m. Nov. 2 in the 900 block of North Tenth Avenue East on a Marion County warrant on third-degree burglary and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
