C-M volleyball loses in four to HLV

VICTOR — For the second straight match, Colfax-Mingo's volleyball team won the first set but lost the match during a South Iowa Cedar League contest on Thursday night.

The Tigerhawks suffered a four-set road loss to HLV. The Warriors (2-7, 1-0) won the match 18-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-15.

Morgan Van Dyke and Kyra Lester both had double-doubles for the Tigerhawks (1-7, 0-2). Van Dyke finished with 12 kills and 18 digs, while Lester tallied 24 assists and 15 digs. Kira Warrick chipped in 20 digs and four aces and was 24-of-24 in serves. Lester served up three aces.

Colfax-Mingo had 29 kills as a team. Avery Rague had five, McKayla Smith tallied four and Caylee Cunningham and Chelsey Temple both had three.

Rague also finished with four digs and Temple tallied three.

The Tigerhawks were 74-of-79 in serves. Cunningham was 14-of-14 with two aces and Shanen Shedenhelm was 9-of-9 with an ace.

Colfax-Mingo faces Montezuma at 7 p.m. on Monday in Montezuma.
