Ladonna “Donna” Tabor, 89, of Newton died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials in Donna’s name (checks made payable to Charles Tabor) may be left at the funeral home.
Donna, the daughter of Ernest and Ione (Wilson) Toye, was born May 17, 1930, in Newton. She graduated from Newton High School in 1948. On March 29, 1950, Donna was united in marriage with Charles Tabor in Des Moines. They made their lifelong home in Newton. Through the years, Donna had worked at JC Penney and later at the Newton Seed Store, but most of her life was dedicated to raising her three children, Regan, Rod and Amy. Donna was a 4-H leader, member of the Armstrong Homemakers, Farm Bureau and the Wittemberg Grange. She and Charles most recently attended Cornerstone Bible Fellowship. She enjoyed gardening, reading and sewing.
Those left to honor Donna’s memory are her husband, Charles Tabor of Newton; children, Regan (Susan) Tabor of Wichita, Kan., Rod Tabor of Newton and Amy (Craig) Schulte of Eagan, Minn.; her grandchildren, Kyle (Kati) Tabor, Kevin (C.J.) Tabor, Nichole (Scott) Bryant, Brendan (Ashley) Tabor, Connor Schulte and Alex Schulte; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; and two brothers.
