Linda Marie Osborn, 72, of rural Newton, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019, at the Comfort House in Pella. Visitations celebrating Linda’s life will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5 and Friday, Sept. 6 at her residence. Memorials in Linda’s name (checks made payable to Stanley Osborn) may be left at her home or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
Linda, the daughter of Harold and Velma (Longren) Engle, was born May 22, 1947, in Newton. She grew up in the Monroe and Baxter areas, graduating from Baxter High School in 1965. On Jan. 12, 1966, Linda was united in marriage with Stanley Osborn at the Free Methodist Church in Newton. They made their home in Newton prior to moving to their current home in rural Newton 42 years ago. Linda sold Avon for many years. She was an excellent jelly maker and enjoyed making hairpin lace crocheted blankets for many family and friends. Linda also was proud of her lovely flower and vegetable gardens. Her many talents took her to farmers’ markets around the area selling food and other goods. She was a loving and devoted wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister and friend and loved spending time with her family.
Linda is survived by her husband, Stanley Osborn of rural Newton; daughters, Teresa (Charles) Conner of Des Moines and Shari (Anthony) Winzer of Newton; grandchildren, Shea (Krys) Conner, Jasmine (Cass) Dickerson, Brooke Healey, Chase Healey and Quade James; great-grandson, Lincoln; a great-granddaughter, Nevaeh, on the way; her siblings, Cathy (Craig) Presnall of Ankeny, John (Diane) Engle of Baxter, Dave (Michelle) Engle of Baxter and Billie Jo Vansice of Baxter; and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
