• Craig R.V. Perales, 18, of Newton, was charged with disorderly conduct at 6:41 p.m. Aug. 27 in the 700 block of North Fourth Avenue East. According to the Newton Police Department, officers responded to a call about a possible fight in the 700 block of North Fourth Avenue East and upon their arrival received a description of the suspect who was wearing a red T-shirt and tan pants. Newton police left looking for the male, and a short time later, they received a complaint of an altercation at the school. Newton police arrived and noticed Perales fit the description given earlier. Officers spoke with the victim who said Perales was the same guy that was there earlier. Newton police spoke with the victim who stated he had never seen Perales before. Newton police spoke with Perales who admitted to approaching the victim because he believed he owed him $30. Officers spoke with an unbiased witness who stated he saw Perales get into a yelling argument with the victim and eventually approaching him. Perales admitted to swinging at the victim. Perales was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
