Newton Little League District Champions

The Newton Little League All Stars, a 9-10-year-old team, won the District 4 Championship going 5-0 recently. The team advanced to play in the 2019 Iowa Little League State Tournament.

Members of the team are (not in order) Landry Rausch, Isaiah Slaughter, Nick Milburn, Grant Osby, Lane Rozendaal, Reagan Maki, Kreytein Wickliffe, Ian White, Aaden Grimm, Josh Lampe, Kyler Swarts, Drew Bauer, Asher Rhoads and Jackson Price. Coaching the team are Bryan Rausch, Jeff Maki and Jeff Osby. To win the District 4 title, Newton beat Grinnell 9-7, Lynnville-Sully 34-1, Mahaska National 5-3, Mahaska Midwest (Pella) 21-1 and Knoxville 21-0. The team had a 1-4 state record with an 8-7 win over Indianola and losses to Ottumwa, Davenport S, Johnston and Morningside.
