Ghost Towns of Jasper County

6 p.m. Aug. 28 — You might not know it, but Jasper County is full of ghost towns. Ghost towns in Iowa are not necessarily deserted buildings on a dusty main street. They are marked by the graveyard on a gravel road, the church sitting alone, or a bend in the road by an old farmhouse. Join Dave Baker, writer and photographer for Iowa: The 29th State, for a presentation on these lost Iowa places and the stories behind them. Baker will show dozens of original photographs and a variety of artifacts pertaining to Jasper County history. This program is free to attend and open to the public.
